Bishop John W. Grant & Darlene

John W. Grant, Sr. served as the Senior Pastor at Calvary Gospel Church (CGC) from August, 1972 to February 2013. In February, 2013, Pastor John W. Grant accepted the position of Co-Pastor with his son, Pastor Roy H. Grant. In 2014, Rev. Grant stepped into the role of Bishop at CGC.

Bishop Grant’s original church that he stared in 1965 is located in Cushing, TX. From Texas he felt a calling to move north to Shawano, WI in 1968. After ministering in Shawano, Bishop Grant moved his family and ministry to LaCrosse, WI and finally to Madison, WI at CGC in 1972.

Bishop Grant has served both on the General Board and the Executive Board of the United Pentecostal Church, International (UPCI) and spent 17 years as the Superintendent of the Wisconsin District UPCI. He has traveled far and wide while ministering and is highly sought after as a speaker.

Bishop Grant and his wife, Darlene, have been married since 1959. They are the parents of 3 sons and 7 grandchildren.

An archival project has started for all of Bishop Grant’s recorded sermons, especially the earlier recordings on cassette.  They can be heard / downloaded at JohnWGrant.com.

Pastor Phil & Fiona Demos

Pastor Phil was born in the country of Greece, where his parents served as missionaries.  They later moved to Germany where he lived until his freshman year of high school. After finishing high school in St. Paul, MN, Phil moved to Madison in 1997 to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He graduated in 2001 with a degree in Management and Information Systems.

Phil, AKA Friar Phil, has been serving on staff as an Associate Pastor since April 2018.  He is responsible for all Student & First Impressions ministries as well as miscellaneous administrative areas.  Prior to this, from 2011 to 2018, he served as Pastor of Student Ministries, the Youth Pastor from 2003 to 2011, and from 1999 to 2003 he served as the Director of CGC’s Youth Choir.

Phil received his local minister’s license from the United Pentecostal Church in 2006. He also served as a sectional youth representative for Wisconsin Youth Ministries from 2006 until 2010 followed by the Wisconsin District Youth Secretary from 2010 until 2017.

He met his lovely wife, Fiona, at CGC and they were married in June of 2004.  They have one son, Josiah, who they adopted through New Beginnings.  Phil is a Lego enthusiast with over 100 sets and his own dedicated Lego room in his house.

Pastor John & Terry Seidl

Pastor John Seidl has been married to his wife, Terry since 1981. They are the proud parents of 3 adult children and three wonderful grandchildren.

After being baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost in 1980, John has filled many roles at Calvary Gospel Church and the Wisconsin District of The United Pentecostal Church, International.

In 1982, John received his local ministerial license and his General License in 2011. He was elected a Sectional Youth Representative and served for nearly 10 years and served as the interim pastor at Viola United Pentecostal Church from 1994 – 1997. After attempting to start a new church in Sturgeon Bay, WI, John and his family moved to Elton, WI where he served as an Assistant Pastor at Apostolic Worship Center from 1997-2003.

Pastor Seidl once again rejoined our family at Calvary Gospel Church in 2003 where he is serving as an Executive Pastor under Senior Pastor Roy Grant. Pastor Seidl is also an integral part of  Voces Unidas, our bi-lingual daughter church, CGC’s Life Ministries, Ministry Placement and is the Dean of the Madison Campus of Purpose Institute.

Pastor Roy & Lois Grant

Pastor Roy H. Grant serves as the Senior Pastor at Calvary Gospel Church (CGC). Pastor Roy has been involved in ministry at CGC since his father, Pastor John W. Grant took over as Senior Pastor in 1972.

Previously, Pastor Roy has held positions as a teacher in our former school, Calvary Christian Academy and Sunday School as well as working hard on the Bus Ministry Team and also serving as the CGC Youth Director. Pastor Roy then served as the Student Ministries Pastor, which included all areas of Sunday School, Youth and Campus Ministries. In addition to these duties, Roy also oversaw all special events and yearly neighborhood outreach efforts such as our Veteran’s Day Celebration, Summer Fun Fest and Touched Twice free medical clinic.

Prior to joining the staff at Calvary Gospel Church, Roy worked as a plumber for 20 years, owning and operating his own business for the last 5 years of that profession.

Roy received his minister’s license in 2006 from the United Pentecostal Church, International.

In 1981, Roy married his sweetheart, Lois, and they have one child – Lona.
